WNY Students First is proud to announce our support for Candice Pineau for the Eden School Board. Candice has advocated strongly for transparency, parental involvement, and student needs. We are happy to be working with her. She will be a great representative for parents on the Eden board.
From Candice: I moved here in 2011 with my husband John (Eden graduate). We have three girls: Hannah, Madelyn, and Olivia. We own a machine shop located in Boston, but are hoping to move it to Eden. John is on the East Eden Fire Department and I currently serve on the towns Zoning Board Appeals. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance, focusing on Workforce Development and Advocacy. I've always had some issues with the public school system, but COVID lit a fire and forced me to start speaking out. My biggest frustration in general, is the fact that parents are not allowed or encouraged to be a part of decision making/ curriculum and I don't mean volunteering for the classroom party. Throughout the COVID era, no one was willing to have an open dialogue. These are our kids, why not? All I was receiving was the same regurgitated talking points sent down from the state. Bottom line, I want to join the board and find out what is happening behind closed doors, be transparent and engage with parents about the concerns (and praise!) we have with the district for our children and their future. |
